2025: A Blueprint for Focus (or at least trying)

My 2025 to do list!
2025: A Blueprint for Focus (or at least trying)
A meme I saw online that made so much for my 2025 goals!

Ah, the start of a new year—the perfect time to overpromise yourself a fresh start and promptly forget about it by mid-January. But not this time. Not for me.

2024 was a bit of a circus, to be honest. I let external distractions run the show. What people said, how they acted, how it affected me—I gave it all way too much energy. Work? Haphazard. Plans? Made on the fly. Productivity? Let’s not even talk about it.

I’ve never been great with New Year’s resolutions. Usually, I give it a solid two weeks before falling back into old habits. Okay, maybe more like a week and a half. But this year feels different—2025 isn’t about overhauling my entire life in a dramatic, unsustainable way. It’s about small, meaningful changes that actually stick.

Simple but significant. Here’s the plan:

1. Morning Workouts: No More Gym Lies

I’m done telling myself, “I’ll work out after work.” We all know how that ends: a half-hearted workout with zero energy. So, in 2025, it’s mornings or bust. Get in, get it done, and get on with the day. Will I complain about it when my alarm goes off at an ungodly hour? Absolutely. But at least I’ll be complaining with a stronger body and a clearer mind.

2. Walking to Work: Steps and Sanity

Every time I need to RTO (ugh, Return to Office), I’m walking. My workplace is an hour away on foot—a perfect excuse to sneak in some daily cardio and rack up steps without thinking about it. Plus, let’s be honest: walking to work is way less soul-sucking than sitting in traffic or squishing into a crowded subway. I’m calling this a win-win.

3. Reducing Body Fat: Fit, Not Just “Fine”

Fitness has always been somewhere on my to-do list, but this year, it’s front and center. The goal isn’t just to look good (though, let’s not lie, that’s a bonus); it’s about feeling stronger, healthier, and more energized. I’m approaching this with patience. No crash diets, no insane regimens—just consistent effort and the belief that small steps lead to big changes.

4. PMP Certification: Two Birds, One Stone

Project management has always been my jam, but now I’m making it official: 2025 is the year I earn my PMP certification. But this goal isn’t just about getting a shiny new credential to add to my LinkedIn profile. It’s about fundamentally changing the way I structure my work. No more “fly by the seat of my pants” planning. This is my chance to bring order to chaos—both in my career and in life.

5. Learning Python: Coding, Take Two

Confession: I’ve tried coding before. Visual Basic in uni? Meh. Java? A trainwreck. But Python? This feels like my redemption arc. It’s practical, beginner-friendly, and, frankly, everywhere these days. Even if I don’t become the next tech genius, learning Python will at least make me feel like I’m on the cutting edge. And who doesn’t want to feel a little smarter in 2025?

Here’s the thing about self-care: it’s not selfish. You can’t pour from an empty cup, and I’ve been trying to pour from a cup that’s basically a shot glass- double entendre because i am actually 5ft 1’

2025 is about setting boundaries, saying “no” to distractions, and carving out time for the things that actually nourish my mind, body, and soul. That’s where this website comes in. Sharing this journey makes you my accountability partners. Seriously, just by reading this, you’re doing me a huge favor. So, thank you for being here—whether you’re cheering me on or just quietly judging my progress (both are valid).

The Bottom Line

If 2024 was the year of external noise, 2025 is the year of internal focus. Morning workouts, long walks, structured work, and finally figuring out Python—these small shifts are my blueprint for a more intentional year.

Here’s to 2025: the year of sustainable growth, setting boundaries, and reclaiming control. And hey, if you’re reading this and thinking about your own reset, let’s do it together! Let’s make this year the one we actually follow through.
